Fruticose Lichen
If a tree had moles, the mole-hairs would be Fruticose Lichen.

There are many species of Fruticose lichen, and I am not sure which one this is. They are typically characterized by looking hair-like, coral-like, bushy or shrubby in growth.

I think the way it protrudes from the bark of the tree is super weird and super cool.
