Eastern Fence Lizard
Sceloporus undulatus

Males of these species will do little lizard push-ups to defend their territory and deter other males.

Alternate Names: Pine-tree Lizard, Common Swift, Pine Lizard
Size: 4" - 7" long
Family: Phrynosomatidae
Habitat: Sunny open pine woods, edges of woods, like to bask on natural and artificial structures including coarse woody debris, tree stumps, rock piles, sandy hills, dead logs, and fence posts. 
Identification: Rough scaled brown-gray lizard with crossbands and a short snout. The males can have blue scales on their sides.
