I wish I had a better photo of these (and more photos). I was pretty confused to see the mushrooms just coming out of the stem of this leaf, which in the end is what helped me identify this fungus (hopefully correctly!)

Alternate Name: Black-stalked Marasmius
Size: Cap .5-2 cm across, stem 2-5 cm long
Family: Marasmiaceae
Habitat: Leaf litter, forest floor of hardwood forests.
Identification: Dark colored stem with a white cap, tiny white hairs on the stem, which lack mycelia and is directly inserted into the substrate (usually an oak leaf or twig).
