Vermillion Waxcap
Hygrocybe miniata

This little waxcap is found in temperate regions across the globe, however because it doesn’t like areas that have been disturbed, it’s not as common of a find these days.

Size: Cap 0.5–3.5 cm
Family: Hygrophoraceae
Habitat: Fields and hardwood forests that have not be disturbed, or sprayed. 
Identification: Small, bright red, or red-orange mushroom. Gills are reddish with pale yellow edges, sometimes with a decurrent tooth; broad and fairly distant. Fruits in the fall/winter.
